Pastoral Counseling

Shannon specializes in counseling couples, women, teens, and families using a short-term solution-focused biblical approach.

In short-term solution-focused counseling, clients are considered the "experts" in their situations with resources available at their disposal to find a solution to the current issue. Clients are encouraged to set goals and take inventory of their strengths which could be utilized to experience life without the presenting problem.

Typically, this can be accomplished within five to eight sessions, sometimes only requiring one session. Time is spent during sessions brainstorming and looking for solutions to the current problem and imagining what life would be like without the presenting issue. It is focused on looking forward and setting goals, instead of looking behind and considering the past.

If interested in examining past traumas and wounding, which affect current behaviors and thought patterns, Splankna may be a better fit. Splankna addresses past traumas and clears out emotional fuel that is triggering current negative coping mechanisms.

Splankna combines CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), prayer, and gentle deliverance ministry. Clients are led through emotional release with TFT (thought field therapy), and NET (neuro-emotional technique), while being led through prayer to "take every thought captive" (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to "renew the mind by surrendering to God's Word and aligning with His good, pleasing, and perfect will" (Romans 12:2).
